We all hope and pray for a cure for Alzheimer's and other types of memory impairment. MemoryMate is an assistive device that family and caregivers can provide RIGHT NOW that will result in an improved quality of life for the memory impaired while providing monitorization for the caregiver and peace of mind and satisfaction for the family.

Memorymate now has two product applications. Both are web-based and allow communication with the memory impaired's smartphone (Memorymate Mobile) and or their PC, laptop, or touch screen
tablet computer.(MemoryMate Home) thus creating a "PRIVATE NETWORK". The genius is in the extremely simplified user interface that is available on the subscribers private network.

MemoryMate Home helps solve the challenges when the impairment becomes so great that isolation and loneliness are huge issues for the memory impaired. They are left at home alone or reside in assisted living facilities and are unable to stay in touch with their loved ones. The private network allows the caregiver to communicate with and monitor the impaired. As well, this medium allows family and loved ones to send messages, photos with text, and videos to the impaired thereby maintaining their involvement with family who might very well be on the other side of the country. A huge sense of satisfaction is felt by the family member as now they are able to be of help in the care of the impaired..

Let me share some of the features and benefits of the MemoryMate Home version. First, the reason for the Home version was through testing and use we realized that we needed a way to provide care for those with more advanced levels of impairment. Since the users activity is triggered by lights and icons, we utilize the same ones with MemoryMate home as were used with the mobile device. This was done for consistency of learned use.

The driving factor for MemoryMate Home was in observing our primary test user (my Mother).  She could no longer utilize the telephone feature of her smartphone.  Although the mobile version provided an incredibly simple phone interface, the disease of Alzheimer's had progressed past her using it.  We had to make a move to a larger device.  The Archos 9 Touchscreen Tablet became our device of choice.  This allowed us to make all the dashboard icons much larger.  Plus, it allowed for a solution to the telephone function.  By incorporating Skype telephone, we enlarged and simplified inbound and outbound phone usage to meet an advanced level of Alzheimer's.  On a personal note, my mother (9 years of Alzheimer's) is thrilled to be able to answer or make a phone call with her MemoryMate.

As I mentioned the home dashboard of MemoryMate Home is large and very easily viewed.  Beside weather, date, and time, it has the large functionality icons across the top.  First is the "To Do" center that provides surrogate memory.  By alarm clock, it is the default page upon awakening in the morning.  All the events of the day, tasks, and occasions are listed.  Where sufficient cognitive ability exists, the confirmation button can be utilized.  By the user depressing confirmation the caregiver can monitor the impaired's actions.

The next three centers ( Photo, Video, Messages) are the most used.  Tremendous pleasure and cognitive stimulation are realized by the impaired.  Family can keep a steady stream of messages, photos, and videos coming that allow countless hours of enjoyment and a sense that they are engaged in family activities.

The Phone Contact center is used for a photo and name listing of contacts for receiving or making phone calls.  It is also used for mailing addresses of all those listed.

The Favorite application center can be used for anything that the impaired can utilize.  In my Mother's case, this is where sh can find crossword puzzles and wordsearch games.

Finally, at the lower right of the homepage is the users Emergency information center.  This can be as detailed as the family guardian or the primary caregiver desires.

GIANT STEP FORWARD.  YOU BET.  MemoryMate Home Version can provide an enormous boost for the caregiver and families ability to communicate with one who is dealing with a more advanced stage of memory impairment.  HELP A LOVED ONE NOW.  They deserve the dignity.  MemoryMate provides the medium.
